  1. I have quite a few but my favorite is when I was in my late great-aunts house and the chair started moving. I looked at my mom and she casually said, OH yeah that your aunt Chela.

  2. As much as it kills me to admit it, I have not had a bonafide run in with the supernatural, yet. Either I'm not tuned in enough, or I scare the dearly departed. I do hope to stay at a haunted hotel in northern California this year, so you never know... I love scary and haunted stuff, so I'd love to win that book!

  4. One night I heard my brother get up and head towards my mothers room. I looked out of my door and saw him just standing there, string at her asleep. He turmed towards my door and I closed my eyes, pretending to be asleep. He made his way towards my bedside and thats when I noticed how short he appeared...too short. He turned around, heading for my door but thats when the footsteps stopped but he was gone. I asked evryone the next morning but they heard no footsteps.

  5. Since we seem to be sharing ghost stories, my husband and I were in bed one night before we went to sleep and heard a knock at the bedroom door. We figured it was one of the kids and told them to come in. No-one did, and when we went to check on them, they were sound asleep. My husband is haunted, because other things have happened in the three other places we have lived.

    1. EEP! I had a similar experience in Santa Barbara, CA. We were staying in a hotel with a separate room for the kids, when in the early morning hours, I heard a child say, "MOMMY!" I ran in to find all kids fast asleep and me staring out the window for the rest of the night.

  7. Ok, one of my sincere hopes is to attend a haunted retreat with you. And I mean that in the least stalker-y way possible.

  8. Grrr... it ate my comment. I hate it when that happens.

My grandmother, sat large as life next to me on my bed, smelling of strong coffee and cigarettes, hours after she died in the hospital to ease my grief over her unexpected death from cancer (and by unexpected I mean that everyone knew she was sick and dying but me). It's one of my favorite memories. I was five. I can still remember her stroking my hair while telling me she was in a better place without pain and sickness.

  9. OK, ghost story time! Years ago, I lived in Charleston, SC, and really, you can't swing a black cat without finding a haunted house there. Anyway, I had this friend named Jeff, who was a bricklayer, and who absolutely, positively DID NOT believe in the supernatural.

One day, Jeff was working on the chimney of a house that was being rehabbed, and he was on a scaffolding near the second-floor window. Because it was an old historic house, there was another story and an attic above him, so the chimney extended a good 40 feet from the ground. So he was on the scaffolding, working on a patch of bricks, when he noticed a woman watching him from the window, making a "come here" motion. He moved off the scaffolding and onto the roof of the verandah, and just as he did so, the top ten feet of the chimney came crashing down, bricks everywhere, scaffolding destroyed.

Jeff climbed down off the verandah roof, made sure the rest of the work crew was ok, and ran inside to thank the woman, but couldn't find her anywhere. So he asked the homeowner, who was actually doing a lot of the rehab work himself, who she was, assuming it was his wife or girlfriend.

The homeowner said, "That's Katherine, she was a slave who died here in the house before the Civil War. Sometimes she shows up when something bad is about to happen."

Jeff was a true believer after that afternoon.

  10. My father passed away in May of this year at his memorial service they played a tribute to him with some pictures of him and his favorite music. During that time I was sobbing uncontrollably. After a few moments I felt this firm hand on my back. After the service I asked around to see who was behind me during that time and I was told nobody was. I believe it was my dad's way of telling me it would be ok.

  11. My grandfather passed away the week before my 13th birthday. The day of my birthday he appeared in my bedroom right before I fell asleep. I have seen ghosts all my life and have had numerous experiences with the supernatural.

  13. I really don't have a good ghost story. Wish I did!

  14. I don't have a good ghost story either, but I did write up a fictional one and posted it on my blog. It was about a visit from my father's ghost. My dad's been gone over 40 years. I have to say it was really nice to visit with him after all those years. Even though he wasn't really there. Probably.
